Johnathan Junior Gomez of Fitchburg, MA, left us suddenly on July 11, 2022. He was born June 28, 1989 in Paterson, NJ, to Mayra Reyes and Johnny Gomez. Johnathan was a very active and adventurous child. His early days were spent playing with friends outside in the Cleghorn neighborhoods.

Johnathan's best years were in high school where he developed his love for football. He took the game very seriously, and it didn’t take long for him to realize his God given talent for the sport. Johnathan loved his Fitchburg High School (FHS) football teammates and coaches. He had a passion to mentor children and young adults. After graduating in 2008, Johnathan worked as a hall monitor, gym teacher, and football coach in a number of Fitchburg schools. 

At his core, Johnathan had a big heart. It was in his nature to be concerned for the well-being of others. Many knew him in different ways, but he made friends wherever he went. No matter who you were, if you knew Johnathan, then you had a friend indeed. To some, his words were few, but when he did speak, he always had something impactful to say. Johnathan was either the life of the party or the missing link to every thought provoking conversation.

At the end of the day, though life got tough, Johnathan still cared for those around him who were also struggling. Whether it was a drink or meal, he always had it to give. Even in his darker days, he did his best to be a light until the very end. In addition to his mother and father, Johnathan leaves behind two brothers, Joel Gomez and Joseph Gomez. He will be missed dearly.
