Obituary

James Ernest Luchford

lifelong Fitchburg resident

James Ernest Luchford, lifelong Fitchburg resident passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 25th at the Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner MA. Born September 24, 1952 to William T. and Nancy E. Luchford. Although Jim passed away in 2018, his services will be combined with his twin sister June DiFranco of Gardner, who passed away Wednesday November 3, 2021 after an illness. They leave 2 surviving brothers; Thomas Luchford, David Luchford and his wife Elizabeth, a sister, Lynn Gebhardt, a foster sister Pam Green, and was Uncle to 2 nieces Sheryl and Mallory, and 2 nephews Robert and Bill, and had great memories of their many cousins, Aunts and Uncles.

Jim was talented and very smart in his former technical life; He was employed for many years at the former Data General Computer Mfg Co. of Northborough MA within the Engineering Development Group as a data systems trouble shooter, a job he absolutely loved, and similarly with Brandeis University before that. Jim was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, then CETA computer training program, and attended Mount Wachusett Community College and Fitchburg State College. Jim was an avid movie fan, he enjoyed science fiction and books, computer gaming clubs, witty Garfield and Peanuts comic strips, and any intellectual or fun conversation as he got along with everybody. Jim had a great sense of humor and even poked fun at himself often referring his name as "just-Jim" which fit him just fine. Jim loved being around his family and siblings for their combined dry sense of humor and laughter, including his last Thanksgiving that he immensely enjoyed and still talked about hours before his passing.

Services will be held as a dual service for both James and June of 1 urn and 1 casket at Bosk Funeral Home and Forest Hill Cemetery at 1 graves-side with separate nearby final internments.

-See June’s obituary in a separate listing in this publication.-
