Helvi M. (Liedes) Tervo, 88, of Ashby, died Wednesday,
November 5 at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital with her
loving family at her bedside. Helvi was born in Halsua, Finland
April 18, 1926, the daughter of  Yrjo and Lempi (Mikkula) Liedes.
She moved with her husband and six children to the United
States and Fitchburg   in 1965. She has been a long time
resident of Ashby.

Helvi was the wife of Olavi M. Tervo who died in 1991. Helvi
leaves her sons and daughters-in-law  Ollie P. and Lynn  Tervo
of Ashby, Seppo O. and Susan Tervo of Kirkland, Wa, Mikko A.
and Hannah Tervo of Finland and Esa V. Tervo of Fitchburg. Also
her daughters and sons-in-law Soila and Armand Pitre of Ashby
and Britta S. and John Haley of Fitchburg.  She also leaves her
sisters Eila Pohjonen of Finland, Elsie Pupputti and husband
Veikko and Liisa Liedes  of Fitchburg.  Several nieces and
nephews. Helvi was predeceased by her brother Aimo Liedes
and her sister Lillian Beals. Helvi was employed for many years
in the laundry department of the former Burbank Hospital.

Helvi loved her family and enjoyed the beach, baking pulla,
playing the harmonica, reading the Bible and playing with her
fifteen grandchildren and her six great grandchildren. She was
an awesome Mummu.

Funeral services for Helvi will be held on Monday November10
at 10:00A.M. in the Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St.
Fitchburg. A visitation time will be on Sunday November 9  5 to 8
P.M. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery Fitchburg.
