Harold F. "Jack" Desmond Jr. 80, died Sunday June 9, at Health Alliance
Leominster Hospital.
Jack was born in Concord, Ma. October 8, 1932, the son of Harold F. and
Gertrude (Schnair) Desmond. He graduated from with a BS degree in
education and his Masters in Education from Fitchburg State College and
his Certificate of Graduate Studies from Boston College. Jack was a
teacher at Lunenburg High school, Fitchburg State College and for 10 years
in El Paso, Texas. He retired in 1992 and returned to Fitchburg.
Jack was a member of Rollstone Congregational Church, and the Charles
W. Moore Lodge of Masons. He was a former member of the Fitchburg
Conservation commission. He loved gardening and animals and feeding
birds.
Jack's wife of 47 years Nancy Helen (Peontak) Desmond died July 29,
2001. He leaves his daughters, Patricia D. Whitney and Judith L. Desmond
and husband Andrew Koski both of Fitchburg. He also leaves his brother
and sister-in-law Paul and Vicky Marion , his sisters Dolores Sampson of
Fitchburg and Alice Monette and husband John of Ashburnham. He also
had very special grandson Michael John Morales of El Paso, Texas.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday June 18, from
9 to 11 A.M. followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. in the Bosk Funeral Home
85 Blossom St. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Contributions in
his name may be made to the A.S.P.C.A., The Humane Society of the U.S. or
to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats.
