George “Peter” Skelton, 79, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, died on December 26, 2019. Born on August 24, 1940 in Concord, Massachusetts, Peter was a life-long resident of North Central Massachusetts. Peter lived his life surrounded by people who loved and appreciated him.
Peter was an active and well-loved member of The Arc of Opportunity until his passing. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his friends, and traveling. Earlier in his life, Peter worked as a dishwasher at Fitchburg State University and as a janitor at Conversation Concepts in Fitchburg. Peter never hesitated to lend a hand whether it was helping in the kitchen at home, assisting with home repairs, or feeding the family dog.
Peter was the last living member of his family. He is predeceased by parents, George H. and Alma Skelton, and two sisters Judy and Emily. He leaves behind his shared living providers of twenty years who became his chosen family Ruth and Bernard Nicholson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom Street, in Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arc of Opportunity’s recreation program. The Arc, 564 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420 or www.arcofopportunity.org/donate.
