                                                          George Henry Griffith Jr.

George Henry Griffith Jr., 77, of 29 Goodwin St. Fitchburg, MA died at home on Sunday evening, April 12, 2015 after a long hard fought battle with cancer.He was attended to by his bestest buddy, Catherine David-Smith, and stepson, Cory Skidmore, with the generous help of Health Alliance Hospice Care.

George was born August 9, 1937 in Boston MA, the son of George H. Griffith and Doris (Samuels) Griffith.  He was raised in Kingston MA.  George leaves 4 children, Susan, Trina, Sherry and Keith, and many grandchildren behind. He also leaves 2 sisters, Judy and Theresa, and 2 brothers, Scott and Richard.

George’s two greatest loves in life were riding his motorcycle and his many close friends. He owned and/or rode almost every motorcycle known to man. He was an iconic 50’s biker, and a legend in Fitchburg.He was known affectionately by his friends as “Satan”, a nickname given to him by an admirer in the 1950’s.

George was one of a kind, and his cars were also very distinctive, from his 1960 Pink Lincoln Continental Mark V convertible, later painted Red, White & Blue, and called The Spirit of America, a 1968 Chrysler Newport convertible, hand painted with an Aztec Eagle painted on the hood and Aztec designs along the full length of the fenders, to his trusty little black and red 66 Ford Bronco, called The Rubber Duck, with little rubber ducks mounted along the hood.

It is rumored that most local sound and building ordnances that are in affect today, had been created because of George and his antics. You always knew where George stood on any topic, and had as much tact as a sledge hammer thrown thru a crystal glass shop.

George had a great sense of humor, and love listening to music in his garden, near his handmade waterfall fountain. On beautiful clear summer nights, it was not uncommon to hear his music blasting away all the way down to Main St. Fitchburg. George loved life, and did everything he set his sights on.

George drove a delivery truck for 22 years for Service Electric of Fitchburg, retiring in 2001.During his retirement, he loved riding his motorcycle, and spending hours walking the beaches of Cape Cod. In his final years, George loved to do what George did best… to be George.

George demanded that no service of any kind be held, after his death. Hell, he didn’t even want this obituary run…
