Loving husband and Father

Donald Bruce Laaksonen, 67, lifelong resident of Fitchburg passed away at
home on Tuesday October 7, after a courageous and lengthly battle with
throat cancer, surrounded by his loving family including his wife of 45
years Susan (Lapham) Laaksonen, his only daughter, Shanni Ellen
Laaksonen and his beloved grandsons Nicholas and William.

He is also survived by his brother David Laaksonen of Fitchburg and his
nephew Gary Laaksonen. He was predeceased by his parents Wilho and
Bertha (Nisula) Laaksonen.

Don graduated from Fitchburg High school in 1964 and was a  U.S. Air
Force veteran serving with honors from 1966 to 1970.

Don was a dedicated employee of Coca-Cola for 34 years, retiring in
2000.He enjoyed coaching Biddy League Basketball in Fitchburg where he
coached for 30 years.. He loved the Boston sports teams especially the Red
Sox and Nascar Racing. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday October 10, at 1:00 P.M. in
Emanuel Lutheran Church 1200 John Fitch Highway.  Contributions in his
name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St.
