Juanita Mathis, 78, of Fitchburg, died peacefully Sunday February 18, at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester after a lengthly illness. Juanita was born in Omaha, Georgia, March 6, 1939, the daughter of Mike and Mattie Mae (Mitchell) Hall. She had lived in Fitchburg for 8 years.
Juanita was a cook in various nursing homes in her working years and loved to cook as well for relatives and friends.
Juanita's husband of 44 years James Mathis died in 2005. She is survived by her son Eddie L. Holtzclaw and her daughter Ruby Hall both of Fitchburg. Her brother Ulysses Hall of Florence, S.C. her sister Ruby J. Jackson of Fitchburg. Thirteen Grandchildren, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nine brothers and two sisters died before her.
PLEASE NOTE: Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the First Church In Christ, corner of Snow and Green St. followed by a service at 12:00 P.M.
