Barbara Swett Halbedel, 83 of Fitchburg, formally of New Ipswich NH passed away Saturday December 23, 2017 from complications of various health issues.

Born in Boston MA on November 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Sydney W and Katherine F (Atwood) Swett. She was a 1953 graduate of Fitchburg High School.

Her many hobbies included knitting, crocheting, reading and enjoyed many different puzzle books. Love vacationing in various locations in Maine.

She is survived by 3 sons; Kenneth (Chrissy) Sr, of Warren MA, Brian (Eunice) of Rindge NH and James (Christie) of New Ipswich NH, 8 daughters; Pamela (Lance) Martin of Jaffrey NH, Sharon (Robert) Deschenes of Rindge NH, Diane (Kevin) Griffith, Nancy (Burton) Lashua, Susan Eddings all of New Ipswich NH, Jo-Ann (Michael) Jackson of Peabody MA, Paula of Lunenburg MA and Tricia of Bozeman MT.  She also leaves her siblings Robert Swett and Margaret Gregory of Greenville NH, Nancy Murphy of Woolwich ME and Katherine (Edward) McCarron of Mount Dora FL; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, in laws, cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Charles E Halbedel in 2004, her twins Scott and Sandra in 1970, her brother Sydney(2016).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom Street Fitchburg MA from 2 to 4 on Saturday December 30, 2017, with short service at 4:00 pm. Burial will take place later in the spring of 2018. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Barbara’s name.
