Mary M. (Hubbard) Roland, 63

On Sunday October 29th Mary M Roland, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and all-around Superhero was finally able to take a well deserved break. A break from constantly putting everyone else’s needs ahead of her own. A break from the courageous war she had waged on cancer over the last 3 plus years, as only a true Superhero such as herself could have. Mary was as selfless a person one could ever have hoped to meet. Oftentimes, doing without so that her family and friends would not have to. To know Mary was to know true grit. As well as strength, determination, love, and a fierce pride in her New England Patriots. It wouldn’t be uncommon at all to have seen Mary on the back of Harley, with an authentic smile on her face in anticipation of the ride, journey, and destination. She was just at home on a Harley as she was in the Bingo Hall, using her “lucky dauber” and Good Luck Troll to win the jackpot on a coverall card. She spent many years tirelessly working in the Electronics Field ensuring that their medical devices and safety equipment all did their job as intended as Quality Control. Mom also played the Quality Control role in the lives of her family members. She made sure that Christmas was always magical, Halloween suitably spooky, and baskets always overflowing with treats(and love) come Easter morning. She had a tough exterior that betrayed the vastly soft and caring nature beneath it. A kid couldn’t have asked for a better Mom. And as a Grandmother she spoiled and swaddled as any sweet Grammy should. She ensured that everyone was loved and cared for despite working with limited resources. Whatever we lacked in capital Mom made up for in character, always managing to coax the the very best out of even the worst of situations. All who know her feel fortunate to have been blessed with 3 more years of additional time together despite initial medical estimates of a “few months” after learning of her terminal illness. It took a very special man to give her the strength to carry on when it would’ve been all too easy to give up. Her family will forever be indebted to you for giving us the ever-invaluable gift of time. We will miss her indomitable spirit and will continue to honor her memory, living a life enriched by her courage and will to endure.Mary leaves her mother Ella K.(Aranyos)  Hubbard, her  sons  and daughters-in-law Jason C and April. and Jeremy P.and Alexandea Roland, her sister Ethel F. Dickenson. Also her brothers, Joseph A. Hubbard, James E. Hubbard and Richard R. Hubbard. Her companion, Norman Ouelette.Grandchildren Zachary, Evelyn and Violet Roland.. Her husband Michael J. Roland died in 2012.  Please join us in Celebration of Mary’s life on Sunday, from 2-6pm at the Eastwood Club in Fitchburg. Food and drink to be served.
