John H. Farmer Sr., 76, long time resident of Fitchburg and more recently residing
in Worcester, died Friday June 2, at St. Francis Home in Worcester, succumbing
after the fight of his life with his loving family alongside. John was born in
Charleston, Maine, July 27, 1940, son of Lawrence H. and Lillian Mae (Hayes)
Farmer. John served 24 years in the U.S.Army. He served in many posts in the
United states and overseas including Germany and Vietnam. He was awarded the
Bronze Star.
Following his military career, John served in the National Guard as an air traffic
controller. He worked for the Maine State Police and the Penobscot County
Sheriff's office as a corrections officer. John was also employed at Intel
Corporation in Hudson until his retirement.
John was a member of Post 794 V.F.W., the American Legion at Large and the
Estwood Club. John worked and volenteered in many projects, especially the yearly
Wreaths Across America Program.
John leaves his wife of over 4 years, Deuselina (Queirz) Farmer, his sons and
daughters-in-law, John H. Farmer Jr. and Christine of North Brookfield, John
Christopher Farmer and Sandra of Fitchburg, Stephen Farmer and Molly of
Chesterfield, IL.and Anthony Farmer and Crystal of Hudson, Ma.. Also is daughter
and son-in-law Cynthia Raymond and Gerald of Powell,TN. He also leaves his
sisters Delma Dority and Elizabeth Hansen and husband James. Seventeen
grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
John was predeceased by his wife of fifty years Leona J. (Stephens) Farmer and his
brother Lawrence R. Farmer.
A visitation period for John will be on Wednesday June 7, from 9 A.M to 12:00 P.M.
followed by a service at noon in the Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St. Fitchburg.
Burial with full military honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery
115 Glenallen St. Winchendon.
