Esther M. Wennberg, 87

Esther M. Wennberg, 87, of Leominster, formerly of Fitchburg, died Saturday  at
the Life Care Center in Leominster after an illness.
Esther was born in Groton the daughter of the late Henry and Fernanda (Nordal)
Wennberg. She moved to Fitchburg at an early age and graduated from Fitchburg
High School in 1946. She was employed at the former New England Tel & Tel Co.
now Verizon and retired in 1989. She moved to Leominster in 2006.
Esther was a devout member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, she sang in the Church
choir and was a member of the Thursday Bible Study Group. In her younger years
she loved to play the violin and the organ.She enjoyed crossword puzzles and
everething Scandinavian. Family anf riends enjoyed her Swedish cookies.. In
summer she travelled the Maine coast and camp Calumet in New Hampshire with
her sister May.
Esther is survived by her niece and caretaker Deidra Fournier and her husband
Roland of Fitchburg. Carol Darnell and her husband Thomas of Laurel, MD, and
Kathryn Whittier and her husband Wesley of Pepperell. She also leaves her
brother-in-law Carl Stewart of Laurel, MD. and grand nieces and grand nephews..
She was predeceased by her four sisters Olga M. Wennberg, Martha Johnson, Olive
Stewart and May Haapala.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 16 at 11:00 A.M. in Emanuel
Lutheran Church  1200 John Fitch Highway. Burial will follow in Forest Hill
Cemetery A calling hour will be from 10:00 A.M. to the time of the service.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church. Bosk
Funeral home 85 Blossom St. is assisting the family.
